Profile

Since 2008, Teddy Watson has been providing advice and practical support to teams across the School, including Admissions, Careers, Executive Education, the Projects Office and the Dean’s Office.

He has had a number of roles, including general consulting, interviewing MBA candidates and providing careers advice to students. He has co-sponsored a number of strategic consulting projects, mostly in the rural economies of Africa, and often helps students with start-up businesses.

Teddy spent 35 years in the City, over 20 years as a director and chairman of reinsurance broking and underwriting operations there and in New York and Copenhagen – with Indigo Underwriters, Berry Palmer & Lyle, Watson Robinson & Associates, and Grieg Fester.

He specialised in treaty reinsurance, particularly that of credit risk, working closely with and advising insurers, reinsurers, governments and multilateral agencies around the world. He was instrumental in key industry developments, including privatisations and the consolidation of the credit insurance industry.

Currently, Teddy heads up a major new project to extend the teaching of the Chinese language across the UK as Executive Director of the Swire Chinese Language Foundation; he is Chairman of Sensonomic Ltd and the recently retired Chairman of the British Exploring Society. Teddy is also a member of council at Radley College, a member of the Advisory Council of Crédito y Riesgos, Madrid, and founder of the prestigious Wallace Watson Award at St Catherine's College, Oxford.
