Ana Bakshi is Director of the Oxford Foundry, the University's entrepreneurship campus.
Ana is an entrepreneurial ecosystem builder, dedicated to driving inclusive wealth creation, social impact, bridging the technology skills gap and upskilling the future workforce. She has a strong track record of building university-based accelerators and start-up campuses that complement academic research and help evolve co-curricular and experiential teaching models. She has helped hundreds of start-ups to launch and scale, and is passionate about diversity, supporting female founders, social mobility and building sustainable and scalable ventures. Her work is based on collaboration, knowledge exchange and building and leveraging global networks of experts and thought-leaders.
Ana became the Director of the Oxford Foundry in October 2017. The Foundry focuses on upskilling students and alumni and harnessing global talent and expertise to build real-world solutions to society’s challenges. Under Ana’s leadership the Foundry has built a thriving community of 3000+ students across all divisions and Colleges, and has launched the University of Oxford’s most diverse start-up accelerator, OXFO L.E.V8. To date, the Oxford Foundry has supported 19 high-potential start-ups who have collectively raised £7m+ in funding and created 70+ jobs globally.
Ana has pioneered initiatives to support Oxford’s future women leaders and founders and designed transformational experiential education programmes. She has also built a Student Advisory Board model with representatives from 38 student societies, a global Advisory Board and launched Oxford’s first inter-College student ideas competition.
Over 7,490 hours of student experiential learning and facilitated peer-to peer interaction have been delivered through the Foundry’s workshops, masterclasses, competitions, large-scale events, impact-led hackathons and thought-leadership roundtables, bringing in expert practitioners from the University and beyond.
Prior to joining the Foundry, Ana created and founded the Entrepreneurship Institute at King’s College London, taking it from pre-proposal to designing strategy and scaling, achieving 100% growth year on year and founding its first incubator space which has gone on to support 50+ ventures. She is a trustee of Ascend Charity, which provides key skills to hard-to-reach and marginalised groups. Ana also loves to cook and develop creative recipes for award-winning craft sauce company Mahi.
