15 month maternity cover
We are looking for an experienced purchasing professional to join the School to cover maternity leave. This post is initially offered on a 15 month fixed-term basis.
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the design, implementation and continuous review of robust purchasing and supplier management strategies. The postholder will drive value for money improvements and enhanced supplier performance, across Said Business School and its trading subsidiary, Oxford Said Business School Ltd.
The postholder will develop strong, effective relations with stakeholders across the Business School; with the central University Purchasing function; and with our strategic suppliers. In doing so, they will ensure that our business needs are thoroughly understood and effectively met, while allowing us to leverage the purchasing power and expertise of the wider University.
The postholder will have experience of managing complex supplier relationships, including the robust delivery of high-value procurement exercises, and the effective management of service contracts where innovation and quality are as important as price. The management of IT Procurement and Supplier Relationship Management will form a significant element of the role, and therefore some knowledge of technology, varying service models, leasing and similar will be advantageous.
The role will also require the postholder to develop robust communication strategies, ensuring colleagues understand and engage fully with purchasing requirements, and, working with colleagues in Finance, taking action to address non-compliance.
This role is initially offered on a full-time basis however we are also willing to consider part-time or flexible working.
Please include a full CV and covering letter with your application.
The closing date for applications is noon on 2 March 2020.
