Faculty Assistant (Events and Research Support)

Grade 4: £22,417 - £25,941 with a discretionary range to £28,331 pa

The academic disciplines in Oxford Saïd Business School are organised into three academic areas: Finance, Accounting, Management Science, Economics (FAME); Strategy, Innovation, Marketing (SIM); and Technology and Operations Management, and Organisation Studies (TOPOS). In addition, Oxford Saïd houses research centres and institutes which sit within these groups.

This post will provide administrative support for events management and research activity and is for a fixed-term of 2 years in the first instance. The Faculty Assistant will work closely with the SIM Academic Area Manager to provide a range of administrative support, and will take responsibility for the organisation of a variety of activities and events, in particular seminars and conferences. This will involve liaising with keynote speakers or staff, collating research papers, creating event website pages, producing conference materials, organising general logistics, catering and travel arrangements.

The post will sit in the Faculty Services office, where the Director of Faculty Services leads a team of 17 staff, providing high quality, responsive support for faculty members across the breadth of the academic disciplines. As well as support for Academic Areas, Faculty Services provides a broad range of administrative and professional services for faculty including recruitment and HR support, research facilitation, and teaching planning.

This role will suit an individual who enjoys being part of a busy collaborative office and working in an environment of changing priorities. The postholder will be required to be both proactive and reactive, and be able to work effectively as a team member as well as independently with minimum supervision as required.

The office ethos is one of supporting other members of the team for example during times of significant workload or staff absence. At these times, the postholder will be expected to support work which lies outside their usual remit if requested to do so by their line manager.

Please note this is a 2-year fixed-term contract.
