Director of Career Development
Grade 10: £55,750 - £64,605 with a discretionary range to £70,759 pa. A market pay supplement taking the salary to £85,000 pa may be payable for exceptional candidates.
We are looking for a Director of Career Development to join us on a permanent basis.
The Director of Career Development will lead and inspire the School’s Career Development Centre to deliver Career Development, Employer Engagement and Talent Development programmes to graduate students and alumni. The Director will also work to a nuanced and targeted business development strategy, track employment outcomes and conduct benchmarking and market trend analyses, with an emphasis on working at three career stages: analyst level Degree Programmes (e.g. MSc in Financial Economics), MBA-level (eg the full-time Oxford MBA) and more senior managers (e.g. Executive MBA and our Alumni). This is an important period for the School when particular attention is being given to the MBA and EMBA programmes and new directors of both programmes are bringing energy and innovation to their close collaboration with the academic leads on these programmes.
The Director will lead the centre to deepen relationships with a breadth of employers, from global employers to fast growth scale ups, in key target international hubs, promoting the breadth and quality of career opportunities open to the School’s students across all Degree Programmes.
The Director of Career Development is a high-profile role within the School and reports directly to the COO. This role has a close working relationship with the Dean and senior academic figures contributing to the strategic performance and direction of the School. The Director of Career Development will also serve as a senior member of the Chief Operating Officer’s senior management team, working closely with peers who include the Directors of Development, Estates, Faculty Service, Human Resources, IT, Marketing and Student Services teams.
The postholder will liaise closely with the Director and other senior staff of Oxford University’s Career Service, and with the University’s externally facing staff.
The postholder will make regular reports and presentations to the Executive Board, the Business Advisory Forum, and the other Boards (such as the Development Board and the Business Advisory Board) as necessary.
