Associate Director CDL

Grade 9: £48,114 - £55,750 with a discretionary range to £59,135 pa

Oxford Saïd are looking for an entrepreneurial Associate Director to join our team at CDL - Oxford on a 3 year fixed-term contract.

The Creative Destruction Lab (CDL), originally conceived at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, is one of the world’s premier seed-stage programmes for massively scalable science-based ventures. The programme has created more than CAD$2bn (£1.2bn) in equity in less than 6 years, and has targeted companies that have the potential to transform our social, industrial and economic landscape.

CDL has now opened its first site outside North America, based at Saïd Business School, as a joint venture between Oxford Saïd and the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division of the University. CDL-Oxford will concentrate on the area of AI for the first year, with an ambitious expansion plan in place for the following years.

The Associate Director is a key member of the CDL team and is responsible for working closely with the CDL Site Director at Oxford Saïd, Professor Thomas Hellmann to manage key aspects of the programme including: team recruitment and management, leading venture recruiting, venture evaluation/selection, communications, resource allocation and event planning/logistics.

To be considered at shortlisting you must be able to demonstrate experience working on entrepreneurship programmes or working in an entrepreneurship ecosystem, confidence working with senior technology executives and angel investors and a solid understanding of business models and drivers of success in start-ups. S/he will be qualified with an MBA or other Master-level qualification.
