Neurosociety: participant comments

Thank you to everyone who attended or participated in the Institute's Neurosociety conference. As a result of everyone's contributions, the event was a remarkable success. Below are just a few highlights from the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received.

Just to say thanks again for a really great neuro event this week: a very vibrant, vital affair, at a great venue. - Simon Williams, University of Warwick

I just wanted to extend my thanks for the organisation of the recent conference ‘Neurosociety? What is it with the brain these days?’. This was my first conference as a PhD student (and since making the departmental jump from Psychology) and the participants, organisers and general structure of the conference made it a memorable first experience.  I know these positive thoughts are shared by my more experienced colleagues, and I hope this will be the first of many events at InSIS that I am able to attend.
- Greg Hollin, University of Nottingham

Many thanks again for everything. The conference was great. I really enjoyed it. - Francisco Ortega, State University of Rio de Janeiro

I want to thank Steve (Woolgar) and Tanja (Schneider) for organising a great conference; for me, as a complete outsider to STS research, it was a very informative and an exciting 'peek into the kitchen'.

Thank you for a stimulating piece of collective brain-work (formerly known as a 'conference'!) - SM

I just wanted to thank you once more for your hospitality and the great organisation of the Neurosociety conference last week. I enjoyed it tremendously and found it very inspiring to get an understanding of the issues, challenges and problems of neurology from a different academic field than my own. Although there is significant overlap (e.g. the question if neuro- really bringa something new) there are also significant differences (e.g. the fear of the loss of the social in social sciences, as opposed to the fear of the loss of the conceptual vs. empiricism in humanities). I am sure that I missed several excellent parallel papers. - PP

I just wanted to tell you that I highly enjoyed your conference and its discussions on neurosociety. It was a pleasure having the opportunity to be part of such an interesting and compelling scientific event - cutting edge as it was I will have to think about a lot of stimuli I got from your conference. - DH

The communication and information before the conference were very precise and left enough time for planning the travel arrangements and sending the slides and paper etc. The conference itself was perfectly organised and I especially liked the schedule because it left enough time for discussions in the sessions as well as during the breaks. I never had the feeling that one had to rush or hurry as you often experience at other conferences. Anyway, all in all it was a wonderful conference and I really enjoyed attending it. Thank you all for organising it! - TH

I just wanted to thank you for organising the ‘Neurosociety’ event at Saïd Business School. Yesterday was utterly fascinating.  It's so rare to attend an event that really does inspire but this is exactly what you achieved. Congratulations ! Iam looking forward to attending many more events at SBS in the near future. - CS

The meeting was very stimulating! It was great to meet the other NESSHI members! I am looking forward to the start of the project. - EH
