Strategy, entrepreneurship and international business

at Oxford

Strategy, Entrepreneurship and International Business (SEIB) at Oxford pioneers research insights, policy guidance, and managerial practice on the dynamics of competition, innovation and performance in firms, public sector agencies, civil society organizations, and social entrepreneurial ventures. Our approach to contemporary issues builds on the multidisciplinary expertise among the faculty and emphasizes institutional ‘rules of the game’, historical and comparative studies, a concern for experimental and field-work research designs as well as simulations and secondary data analyses, and a broad focus on how changing rules of the game change the institutional and strategic context for firms and other organizations.

The academic area is global in personal origins and academic outlook.  Our members have earned doctorates roughly equally from Europe and the United States.  We publish in leading academic journals in strategy, organization theory, international business, business & society, the management and decision sciences, business history, design management, entrepreneurship and innovation, and social theory.

We are active in major international conferences and professional associations, as well as in UK and European professional activities.  We hold editorial board memberships in key international academic journals and we regularly keynote academic and industry conferences, do consultancy, and teach a wide range of Oxford students as well as senior executives and public service professionals.  We blog on various topics of expertise, and we participate in the intellectual life of the Oxford Colleges, as well as in several Oxford centres and institutes concerned with strategy, China business, India business, professional services firms, social innovation, entrepreneurship and enterprise, and corporate reputation and ethics.
