Overview

Gerd Islei directs and teaches a range of advanced executive development programmes. His clients include Kingfisher, IBM, BMW, Metro Group, RWE, and the European Patent Office.

Recently, Islei has worked with the European Commission bringing together practitioners and policy-makers to develop a sustainable future for freight transport in Europe. In order to encourage economic growth this project, known as ‘BestLog’, aims to disseminate the lessons of supply chain best practice among smaller and medium-sized enterprises. He has also extended his research to collaboration in value chains with particular focus on emerging economies.

Islei began his career working for the German government in Africa advising on technology transfer. He then directed the Doctoral Programme at Manchester Business School, before joining the Oxford faculty in 1994. Among Dr Islei’s many publications are Managing Information Technology as a Strategic Resource and Improving Decision Making in Organisations.
