 Basak Yakis

Overview
After receiving an MSc in Analysis, Design, and Management of Information Systems from London School of Economics, Basak came to Oxford as a British Council Chevening scholar and completed her DPhil at Oxford’s Saïd Business School as an ESRC-SKOPE fellow.
Her thesis, entitled “Managing Strategic Issues over Time: Senior Managers’ Issue Sustaining Activities” presents the new concept of Strategic Issue Sustaining and identifies the activities that allow senior managers to do this.

Throughout her DPhil, she held a lectureship at Keble College and Said Business School teaching courses for Economics and Management, and Engineering, Economics and Management. On behalf of the College, she has acted as the Director of Studies.

Research interests
Basak’s main research interests are on corporate reputation and building a 'practice' perspective on strategy (www.strategy-as-practice.org). As part of a collaboration with Prof. Richard Whittington on a wider programme of related research on strategy communications, her project on corporate reputation focuses on how corporations manage their reputation through the external formal communication of their strategies. Regarding strategy as practice, her main project from within this perspective is on the Evolution of Strategy Practice in collaboration with Dr. Ludovic Cailluet and Prof. Richard Whittington. She is also a regular contributor to main strategy textbooks including Exploring Corporate Strategy: Text and Cases.

Basak is a member of the Strategic Management Society, Academy of Management, European Group of Organization Studies, and British Academy of Management, acts as a regular reviewer for refereed journals, regularly takes part in chairing conference sessions, and participates in academic award committees.
