James W. Taylor’s research is in the area of time series forecasting. The main areas of application for his research are: call centres, inventory control, financial market risk management and electricity demand. His research is focused on two main methodological areas: the estimation of forecast uncertainty and exponential smoothing methods. His research has appeared in a variety of journals, including Management Science, Journal of Financial Econometrics, International Journal of Forecasting and Monthly Weather Review. He is currently an Associate Editor of International Journal of Forecasting, and is a past Associate Editor of Management Science.
Dolores Romero Morales’ research is in Operations Research. The core areas in her research are Supply Chain Optimization (SCO), Data Mining (DM) and Revenue Management (RM). In SCO she investigates coordination mechanisms between buyers and suppliers. The main contribution here is the incorporation of the cost structure of both buyers and suppliers. In DM she is working on Supervised Classification, and in particular, improving the explanatory power of Support Vector Machines. In RM, she is currently working on the development of non-additive bid prices. Her work has appeared in a variety of journals, including Management Science, Operations Research, INFORMS Journal on Computing and Discrete Applied Mathematics. She is currently in the Editorial Review Board of Productions and Operations Management, and an Associated Editor of the Asian-Pacific Journal of Operational Research and TOP.
