'Inspiring Choices - Multi - faceted lives'
Tuesday, 12th October 2010, 5:45– 8:30 pm

More women are taking on working roles outside of their day to day job, as volunteers, trustees, governors and board members.

  • Some do this from a passionate interest in a particular activity
  • Some choose roles to broaden their skills and experience
  • Some do it as a full-time career - a 'portfolio' of roles
It can be demanding, rewarding and hugely developmental for the women involved - helping them to feel more confident, to broaden their experience base and their business networks: early involvement can help build skills and a stronger CV for future senior management positions. Some employers now give more attention to candidates with governance and voluntary roles.

On the 12th of October 2010 we brought together people in these roles to talk about their motivation and experiences; corporates to explain why they specifically value candidates with such experience and the companies (corporates, public sector and not-for- profit) that are looking for women to take on those roles and as many students, alumni, staff and Said Business School friends as we can fit into our parallel career fair.

Keynote speaker: Zenna Atkins
