Oxford MBA alumna Lijun (Cecilia) Jiang has been selected as the winner of the annual Excellence in Business Leadership Award at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Organised by the Women in Business group at Saïd Business School the award, established in 2010, recognises the achievements of outstanding female alumni and aims to raise the influence of women in the business community and to inspire women to achieve their full career potential.
Cecilia graduated from the Oxford MBA programme in 2006 and is Vice President of the Pingan Bank’s Hangzhou branch. She was instrumental in establishing the branch which opened in March 2009. Observing that the region’s SME sector was underserved by the banking industry, she established a platform that provides comprehensive services to SME customers according to Ping An bank's SME strategy. She rapidly developed Pingan’s SME customer base to exceed 720, with loan balances of RMB3.2 billion and bank profits of over RMB50 million by the end of 2010. Before Pingan, Cecilia worked at the China Investment Bank and Guangdong Development Bank for 19 years.
On hearing of her award Cecelia commented: ‘I am very honoured to be selected as the winner of the 2011 Excellence in Business Leadership award. My career path has improved significantly since I graduated from the MBA programme at the Saïd Business School at University of Oxford and I have moved to a higher level of management at Pingan Bank. It is testament to the fact that through business study, female professionals can develop themselves into better business leaders and enhance the contribution to their companies, families, staff and society.’
The award will formally be announced by Dean Colin Mayer at a ceremony at Saïd Business School on 19th May. Peter Sherratt, who served on the Selection Panel alongside Jan Hall, Partner at JCA Group and Professor Sue Dopson, Rhodes Trust Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Saïd Business School, will speak about his experiences as Lehman Brothers' Chief Legal Officer for Europe & Asia, and his recent work with girls' education in Sub-Saharan Africa as Chair of Camfed.
