Saïd Business School is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Education, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the North Development Programme on this programme of strategic importance to the Saudi society.
In 2007, the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Public Education Development Project – Tatweer was launched by the Ministry of Education to bring about comprehensive development of K-12 education system in the public schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Tatweer project with a project life of 6 years (2007-2013) has a budget outlay of 9 billion Saudi Riyals.
The core objective of the Tatweer project is to develop a system of education standards, assessment and professional development which reflects the emerging trends in the 21st Century.
The strategy of the Tatweer project is to transform the school education system through incremental change and by continuous improvement on successive projects.
The specific programmes are implemented on the basis of community engagement and are directed towards areas where there is an urgent need for change and where there is strong potential for making high impact. The Tatweer project will cover all the students in K 12 system.
Education systems shape the long term future of societies. Education in its various forms is the key driver of the quality of brain power of a country. Therefore Tatweer is one of the most strategic transformation projects being implemented in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
At the core of any major national transformation project is the critical role played by leaders who inspire stakeholders to tread in new directions.
The Saudi Oxford Programme for Education Leaders (SOPEL) is a comprehensive programme for the development of leaders who will be responsible for ensuring the success of the Tatweer project.
