Lilac Al-Safadi, PhD Vice Head of Information Technology Department College of Computer and Information Sciences, King Saud University
“SOAMLP is an excellent structured program that is tailored to the challenges and opportunities of Saudi Arabia organizations. It combined academic theories, advanced practical approaches and real-world experiences. SOAMLP gave me the opportunity to meet and learn from distinguished guest speakers who made positive impact on their organizations. The program highly inspired me to contribute to the competitiveness of my organization and to Saudi Arabia. My expectations of the program were more than satisfied.” |
The Oxford Approach
The School is fully integrated into Oxford University and draws on Oxford’s strengths in subjects such as anthropology, economics, international relations, law, politics and psychology. Both the Saïd faculty and the faculty of the wider University of Oxford teaching on the Saudi OAMLP include world-leading experts who are very active in their specialist fields so there is the chance you will meet the very expert you need, no matter how difficult your question.
We have also been careful to retain the distinctive and much-valued features of the OAMLP such as the individual tutoring which is such a characteristic of Oxford’s approach whilst introducing a range of innovations. The programme focuses heavily on the issues and challenges facing CEOs and the task of visioning and steering organisations. We explore the notion of inspirational leadership, using the insights of high-profile leaders who share their experiences of navigating extreme situations of physical and mental stress so we can work out how to face seemingly impossible issues. We discuss the importance of using impactful communication with performance and voice professionals, utilising techniques from story telling and linking words and emotions.
Case studies: Capturing Saudi context and practices
We also work with senior executives on real life, real-time case studies to allow participants to put their learning into practice – with immediate feedback. The Oxford faculty will write eight case studies on Saudi organisations. These case studies will be discussed during SOAMLP in the presence of the CEOs and senior officials from the organisations. For SOAMLP 10, we propose to write case studies on leadership challenges in Saudi organisation in the public and private sectors. These Saudi organisations are our Partners in Knowledge Creation. This is a rich and innovative learning experience for senior executives.
SOAMLP Advisory Board
The quality assurance aspect of the programme is carefully monitored by a high power advisory board comprising representatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and University of Oxford. The board meets twice a year.
The Oxford Experience
Your split-level en-suite study-bedroom at Egrove Park, Oxford, is set in 37 acres of wooded parkland, with many walking and jogging trails leading in and out of the woods. Every bedroom is fully equipped with telephone, networked broadband internet access, copy of the Qur’an, prayer mat and other essentials to make your stay as comfortable as possible. During the Oxford-based module you will have full access to an all-weather tennis court, two squash courts, a gym and a sauna, and the option of a personal fitness trainer and our award winning food can be adapted to suit personal tastes and preferences.
Also, in keeping with the programme’s creative approach, your schedule includes time for a tour of the beautiful city of Oxford, with visits to its stunning medieval colleges, the Bodleian Library and a tour of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies. You will be treated to excursions such as theatre trips to London or the beautiful town of Stratford-upon-Avon, and you will be invited to a private formal dinner, held for you and your peers, in the hall of one of the prestigious colleges of the University.
Saudi Oxford Leadership Portal (SOLP)
We hope your relationship with the School will continue to develop long after completion of the Saudi Oxford Advanced Management and Leadership Programme. Apart from making good friends on the programme, Saïd Alumni (former participants), enjoy life-long learning and networking possibilities through the SOLP portal.
The alumni of SOAMLP, 5K-5Y Young Leaders Programme and the Saudi Oxford Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SOEDP) will be invited to join the SOLP. The portal will be equivalent of a digital university offering life long learning support system to its members.
SOAMLP alumni
The SOAMLP alumni, currently 43 in numbers, will constitute Saudi Oxford Competitiveness Forum. They will play significant roles in training grass root organisations and Saudi small and medium enterprises in raising their competitiveness.
