The fast pace of today’s working environment makes it increasingly difficult to combine a successful career with reflection and study. For this reason, we have developed an efficient programme format designed to embed learning and enable you to apply your knowledge immediately in your own organisation.
The programme is structured over two modules of four days and a final module of three days in Oxford. The first two modules start on a Wednesday morning and finish on a Saturday, giving all participants the opportunity to return home with plenty of time to resume work on Monday morning if necessary. The final module starts on Wednesday evening and finishes on Saturday lunchtime.
Programme Preparation:
Pre-Module Work: Learning Preparation
Pre-reading and a personal statement are designed to prepare you for the first module. We will ask you to identify your own objectives for the end of the programme.
Psychometric Assessment
To motivate others you need to understand yourself. So, as part of the learning experience, you will complete a psychometric assessment, designed to help you identify your own preferred style of management. The results of this assessment will be discussed with your personal coach who is appointed during the first module.
Modules 1, 2 and 3:
The course is taught through a combination of interactive seminars and classes, case study discussion and personal mentoring. Knowledge of fundamental business principles such as financial management, marketing and strategy are combined with leadership development. Faculty from the Saïd Business School will be joined by academics from the wider University of Oxford, giving a breadth of insight into the complexity of globalisation, sustainability, climate change and the challenges of working in emerging markets.
Personal development and coaching:
You will be assigned a personal coach, who will discuss the results of your psychometric profile with you, and mentor you throughout the three modules. At Oxford, coaching builds on our long standing tradition of the “Oxford tutorial” – an exchange of knowledge, insight and interpretation which lies at the heart of all learning. Coaching sessions will focus on individual and professional skills, and on improving performance.
Between modules:
We will ask you to work with other participants between modules to complete an assignment for the following module. This will simulate a real business challenge.
