Oxford is the oldest university in the English-speaking world and lays claim to nine centuries of continuous existence. Throughout its history, Oxford has produced gifted men and women who have gone on to lead in every sphere of human endeavour. Among these are 26 British Prime Ministers, including the current one, the Rt Hon David Cameron MP; at least 30 international leaders; 47 Nobel Prize winners; 7 current holders of the Order of Merit; at least 12 saints and 20 Archbishops of Canterbury; and some 50 Olympic medal winners. At least 117 Oxonians were elected to Parliament in the UK’s General Election in 2010, and more than 140 sit in the House of Lords.
As an Oxford student, you will belong to one of the University’s 38 colleges. College life will enrich your time at Oxford, offering you the chance to socialise with students and faculty from diverse academic backgrounds. Colleges are a focus for sporting and cultural activity: teams compete with each other in sports such as rowing, cricket, and rugby; plays and musicals are staged in college halls and gardens; and concerts take place in college chapels and quadrangles.
Colleges have their own alumni societies and professional networks, which complement those offered to graduates by Oxford University and the Saïd Business School.
The list of colleges currently offering membership to Oxford Executive MBA participants is available on our website.
“The colleges are at our disposal, the library facilities are vast and plentiful, and we have resources that I wouldn't otherwise have had at any other University. I cannot discount the nostalgia associated with Oxford, the rich history, sitting in the Bodleian Library, researching and studying modern-day business issues in a multiple-hundred year old library facility. It's wonderful just thinking about these people who may have been sitting in the very same seat attempting to deal with contemporary issues of the day. It is pretty mind-blowing!”
