 Leading strategic change

Today's world is one of extreme turbulence. But it is not unique in corporate history. Recessions have occurred periodically every decade or so. The difference this time is the speed of arrival of the problems and the depth and width of the crisis across industries and nations.

In this kind of world one does not just need to know about survival but also about the recovery and renewal of organisations as we move through and out of the recession. In these processes, leading strategic change is a key corporate task.

In the elective on Leading Strategic Change, we cover generic material on the leadership of change and the management of performance improvement, but also emphasise the turnaround and renewal of businesses in turbulent times. The course will have a theoretical and research base emphasising the evidence which supports frameworks and findings. However, there will also be a strong practice element with visiting executives presenting live case study examples from retailing, banking health and oil and gas.

The course leader is Professor Andrew Pettigrew who has a world reputation for his research and writing on leading strategic change.
