Sector consultants

The best advice about any industry comes from those who have worked in it at the highest levels. You will have access to a select group of senior executives who have experience of working for leading firms across a broad range of sectors.

These senior executives are known as sector consultants and they work closely with students, chairing panel discussions and meeting face-to-face. Oxford Executive MBA students have one-to-one advice sessions with them when their timetable allows.

Career skills training

Teaching you skills to market yourself, to compete and win top jobs is a key goal for our careers service. We will:

  • provide you with interview training help you to develop your networking skills
  • assist you to produce an excellent CV
  • give you advice on how to pitch to recruiters
  • run workshops on writing effective covering letters
  • ensure that you are prepared for anything the job market can throw at you!

Employer presentations

The careers service facilitates employer presentations at the School. These presentations allow students to learn more about potential employers.

Industry panels

Throughout the year, the careers service organises a series of industry-specific panels to give students the opportunity to hear from and ask questions of a range of employers in a particular sector. Sectors include:

  • management consulting,
  • finance,
  • diversified industry,
  • social entrepreneurship,
  • real estate
  • high-technology.

Speakers are asked to describe the dynamics that affect their sector, the job opportunities, and the key requirements for winning jobs. Attendees come from companies ranging from blue-chip leaders to local start-ups.

Case study workshops

These workshops provide students with a profile of a specific organisation, insights into its culture and advice on how to approach them. Examples of past case study workshops include; L’Oréal, Ernst and Young, and McKinsey, among others.
