Designed to showcase the research of the School's doctoral students, the School will be hosting its second Winter Doctoral Conference on Wednesday 30 November 2011.
The Winter Doctoral Conference aims to facilitate the exchange of research ideas between students and faculty. Doctoral students enrolled at the School will present their work, defend their ideas and received feedback from peers and academic colleagues.
A panel of faculty will evaluate all the work presented and award prizes for the best paper and the best presentation at the end of the conference.
The following awards were presented at last year's conference by Professor Colin Mayer, Peter Moores Dean of the Saïd Business School, at a drinks reception held at the end of the event:
• The Best Paper in Management Research was awarded to George Chondrakis for ‘Profiting from innovation in services: business method patents as mechanisms of appropriability’ – a paper focusing on the effectiveness of business method patents as mechanisms of appropriating returns from innovation in services.
• The Best paper in Financial Economics was awarded to Hyun J. Im for ‘Lumpy investment and financing patterns’ – a paper which proposes a filtering technique designed to identify investment spikes
