 Resources for DPhil students

As a DPhil student you will have access to exceptional resources to support your research efforts.

Conference and research funding

All DPhil students are entitled to a fixed sum of money for the duration of their programme of study, to fund conference attendance when presenting papers and other related research activities. Research activities will normally comprise travel and subsistence as well as conference fees.

The Sainsbury Library

The School’s Library and Information Services comprise the two-floor state-of-the-art Sainsbury Library and the award-winning Virtual Library, an electronic gateway to a wealth of business information. The Sainsbury Library’s lower floor contains the library and IT helpdesk, a short loan collection, a rolling stack, an informal seating area and over 40 study desks,. The upper reading room, with its distinctive vaulted ceiling and impressive views, is intended for quiet research and holds 90 fully-networked study desks.

Doctoral researchers' office

At the Saïd Business School there is a designated doctoral researchers’ office. This provides daily access to desk space, computers and printing facilities for research students. Research students are also entitled to use general provisions made available in the lower and upper  Sainsbury's library reading rooms.

Social Science Library

The Social Science Library houses teaching and first-level research collections resulting from almost a century of recommendations and close contacts with Oxford's social science academics. The library also houses Oxford's post-1990 legal deposit intake for core social science subjects. Additional materials may be requested at this library from Bodleian and Radcliffe Science Library bookstacks. Around 200,000 books and 1,000 current serials are held on open-shelves and can be found by searching the library's online catalogue.

College library

College libraries have generous lending limits, many will buy books that you request, most are open around the clock and all are quiet places to study. The librarian can help you find what you need in college or elsewhere in the University.
