 Teaching

Teaching on the Economics and Management degree programme is through lectures, tutorials and classes.

Lectures

Lectures on Management courses are held in the Saïd Business School, and are usually two hours long, with a break after one hour. All students on the E&M programme, whatever their college, are expected to attend lectures. You will have four hours of lectures per week in SBS, and will be expected to prepare for the lectures by reading the material in the reading lists which are available online at the start of each term. You will also be expected to attend lectures in the Department of Economics on their courses.

Tutorials

Tutorials are at the heart of the Oxford system of teaching and learning. Tutorials are taught by experts in the subject, to small groups of no more than four students. Tutorials on Management courses may be held in your college, or in the Saïd Business School.

Classes

Some teaching is done in classes of no more than 15 students. These are often held in the Saïd Business school, and may be appropriate when numerical or quantitative work is the subject of study.
