Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I make a presentation to students on campus?

It provides a unique opportunity for face-to-face contact and networking which is absent via the Internet medium. It also allows the firm to convey a distinct message about its culture (for example, with MBA alumni participation) that may be more difficult to discern through other media.

Which, if any, sectors does SBS target with regard to graduate placement? Consulting / Investment Banking / Industry?

We admit a broad mix of students with a wide range of career and industry goals and so we aim to optimise our recruitment effectiveness across all industry sectors without a particular focus upon certain industries.

What is the strength of SBS's relationship with management consulting firms?

Since the inception of the MBA Programme, although it fluctuates year-on-year, on average 30% of our graduates have joined the management consultancy sector. McKinsey & Company is the largest single recruiter of MBAs from Oxford.

Where can we find information about MBA graduate placement and performance?

The full placement report is available hereMost students complete the course in September and the placement report is then published in Spring of the following year.

How many companies recruit on campus and what links do you have with recruiting companies?

More than 150 companies annually recruit on campus at the University of Oxford and 80 participate in recruitment events at Saïd Business School.  As a Careers Centre we are continually working to extend and enhance our relations with the recruitment community through company visits and targeted outreach activities.

Which are the top ten companies hiring SBS graduates?

  • Finance and Banking –  Ernst & Young, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Standard Chartered Bank, SMBC
  • Management Consulting –  McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Accenture, KPMG, PRTM
  • Diversified Industry – Johnson & Johnson, Shell
