Zhang Shuying – 2009 graduate

A former nurse, Shuying started her business – a traditional Chinese medical clinic - with six employees. She always wanted to combine profit and social impact, however by 2008, her company made no profit and could only pay salaries for her six employees. Shuying found the business and management knowledge from the Program inspiring. After graduation, she regi
stered the Hao Feng trademark and expanded her business into two sub-clinics with 20 employees. Revenue and profit surged. Her company is now one of the top five in China in the Mugwort herb Moxibustion healthcare business.
Shuying extends her leadership to the Oxford-Zhejiang Program. She organises regular gatherings with other scholars to share entrepreneurial experience and help each other. Arranged by the Goldman Sachs 10,000 women initiative, she attended the APEC meeting in Japan in 2010.
Mi Lan – 2010 graduate

Lan started her entrepreneurial venture with about $400 from his father when she was a university student. She applied her drawings and designs to silk scarves, and obtained a trademark. She has been expanding her business by hiring some of
her university friends specialising in art design and established a studio and online marketing channels. Now she is making designer scarves aiming at high end customers. She started her Hangzhou business at the beginning of 2010, covering manufacturing and sales in the domestic market. She also registered a company in Hong Kong in 2008 with a focus on the international market. Her vision is to build a leading international brand in scarves and accessories.
She injected new concepts in her design and donated anti-radiation scarves to Japan after the earthquake.
Liu Xiaoxin – 2010 gradaute

Xiaoxin sells hand-painted canvas shoes, which are designed by university art students.
She discovered new technologies which enable the colours to stay and designs to be mass produced. She has captured the need in the market where young people in Chinese cities want personalised products and that they perceive canvas shoes as a symbol of individualism and freedom.
Since graduating from the Program, she has opened six new stores and achieved revenue growth of over 200%.
Xiaoxin was a winner of the Program’s Business Plan Competition in 2010.
