Peter Cawdron is a Non-Executive Director of BUPA. He has served as Chairman of Punch Taverns, Spice and GCAP Media and as a Non-Executive Director of Compass Group, Christian Salvesen, ARM (Holdings), Tetley Tea, Welcome Break, ProStrakan Group, Arla Foods (UK), Capita Group and Johnston Press. He began his career in 1961 at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant before leaving to join the merchant bank, S. G. Warburg & Co. Ltd., in 1970 where he remained for seven years. He spent over six years in the US as Chief Financial Officer of D’Arcy-MacManus & Masius Worldwide, Inc., a large international advertising agency group. Peter returned to the UK in 1983 and joined Grand Metropolitan plc as Group Planning Director; he became Group Strategy Director in 1987 and joined the Board in 1993. He left the Company in 1997 at the time of its merger with Guinness plc and took up a number of Non-executive directorships.
