Overview
Lucas Van Praag is the global head of Corporate Communications. He joined Goldman Sachs in London in 2000 as the director of Corporate Affairs for Europe and later assumed oversight responsibility for Corporate Communications in Asia. In 2001, he transferred to New York as global head of Corporate Communications and moved back to London in the same role in August 2006.
He is a member of the European Management Committee and the Firmwide Business Practices Committee. Lucas was named managing director in 2000 and partner in 2006.
Lucas spent the first ten years of his financial career as a banker with Bankers Trust Company in New York. He left to run a manufacturing company in the United Kingdom and, subsequently, was the managing director of a publishing company.
From 1992 to 1999, he was a partner at Brunswick Group, a leading financial public relations consultancy. He graduated from the University of Durham with a joint honors degree in economics and economic history. Lucas and his wife, Miranda, have three children.
