Overview
Andrew Gowers is Director of External Relations at the Association for Financial Markets in Europe. He was Head of Group Media at BP until November 2010. From 2006 - 2008 he was Managing Director, Global Co-Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand Management at Lehman Brothers. Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, Andrew was Editor and Director of the Financial Times Publishing Group from 2001 to 2005.
A graduate of Cambridge University, Andrew began his journalistic career in 1980 with Reuters before joining the Financial Times in London in 1983. In January 1999 Andrew was appointed founding editor of Financial Times Deutschland ahead of its launch in February 2000. Andrew co-authored a leading biography of Yasser Arafat, and was appointed to lead an independent review for the British government of the UK's intellectual property regime, which was published by HM Treasury in December 2006. More recently, he was commissioning editor of Investing in Change, a book of essays on financial reform in Europe, published by AFME and Profile Books in February 2012.
