Overview
John Peace is Chairman of Standard Chartered, Experian and Burberry Group.
In 1980, John was one of the founders of Experian, which today is a global information services company, operating in over 50 countries worldwide. In 2000, he became CEO of GUS plc (Great Universal Stores), a UK-based retail conglomerate of which Burberry was a part. In 2002 John was appointed Chairman of Burberry in advance of its successful flotation. Today, Burberry Group plc is one of the world's leading luxury brands with retail operations throughout Asia, including 50 recently-acquired stores in China. In 2006, GUS plc was demerged and Experian became a FTSE 100 business in its own right, again with John Peace as its Chairman.
John joined the Board of Standard Chartered as Deputy Chairman in 2007 and became Chairman in 2009. Standard Chartered is acknowledged as one of the world's leading international banks with a strategic focus on Asia, Africa and the Middle East. It opened its first branch in Shanghai over 150 years ago in 1858.
