Dr Namrata Malhotra is an
Assistant Professor in Strategy in the Organization and Management Group at Imperial College Business School. Prior to joining Imperial, she was a faculty member in the School of Management at the Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Namrata has an MPhil in Commerce from the Delhi School of Economics, India and a PhD in Organizational Analysis from the University of Alberta, Canada.
Namrata’s research interests lie in the areas of organizational and institutional change drawing on both organizational theory and strategy. To date, her research projects have predominantly focused on examining change processes in professional service firms, especially law firms. She has also done research on internationalization strategies of engineering consulting firms. Currently, Namrata is working with colleagues on projects examining the emergence of innovative career models in law firms and how professional service firms innovate. She is also involved in a project investigating structural and strategic changes in the British nuclear industry. Her recent publications (with co-authors) include ‘Heterogeneity in professional service firms’ in the Journal of Management Studies (2009); ‘An organizational model for understanding internationalization processes’ in the Journal of International Business Studies (2010) and ‘Episodic and systemic power in the transformation of professional service firms’ in the Journal of Management Studies (2012).
She teaches courses in strategic management, managing change in organizations and organizational behaviour at the graduate and undergraduate level. She has been involved in Executive Education programs at Imperial College and other institutions. Currently, she is an Associate Fellow in the Novak Druce Centre for Professional Service Firms at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
