Novak Druce Centre Insights Series

For a full list of downloadable titles click here
This series of Insights aims to provide accessible summaries of recent research by current Members and Associates of the Novak Druce Centre.

Each Insight focuses on a specific issue and offers a fresh and up-to-date reading. Derived from academic papers and books but re-written and presented with practitioners in mind, the series is designed to be thought-provoking and challenging yet also highly readable and digestible and to end with a clear set of ‘take-away’ conclusions.

Future Insights are planned on the relationship between power and change in PSFs, based on recent work by Professor Tim Morris; on client relationship management in PSFs, drawing on the experience of Saïd Business School Associate Fellows Kathryn Bishop and Alison McQuater; on practice-based innovation in PSFs, based on work by Dr Michael Smets and Professor Morris; and on power, conflict and control in global PSFs by Centre Associate Mehdi Boussebaa.

The findings of academic research in management studies are usually disseminated one of two ways:

• Drip-feeding them into taught management development programmes
• Transmitting them via contacts and publications between the academics themselves.

As such, a major disconnect exists between academic and professional constituencies with regard to the results of management research. This is especially the case among professional service firms where comparatively fewer participate in management programmes. It is this gap that the Insight series has been established to overcome.
