BestLog (commenced 2006)
The Bestlog project is funded by the European Commission. It aims to reduce the need for distribution services across Europe, without undermining economic growth. Retailers and consumer goods companies are major drivers of both economic growth and the accompanying disproportionate growth in distribution services.
This is a collaborative project, driven by OXIRM in the UK, with input from across SBS, and partners across Europe, including Berlin University of Technology, the University of St Gallen, Chalmers University, Warsaw School of Economics, as well as some enterprising SMEs. The project is now moving into its final year of the planned four. As well as having already produced several articles and papers, a further paper in a top journal will be published in 2010, as well as a book covering the entire project activity. Importantly, the European Logistics Association (ELA) has recently agreed to adopt many of the project’s findings, and thus the impact of this work will be felt across the whole of Europe. Total project funding is over Euro 3 million.
