The Saïd Business School’s activities extend to running executive education programmes and this provides a further mechanism for the Institute to engage actively with the retail sector.  OXIRM currently runs a number of three-day fee-based research workshops within executive education, together with a four-day strategic management programme and a two-day biannual international seminar.

  • Retail Location Analysis, now in its 24th year, runs each April and has worked with senior managers in planning and development roles in the retailing, retail financial services and leisure sectors in exploring the latest thinking in site assessment and location analysis.
  • The Loyalty Marketing Workshop, now in its sixth year, has a similar focus on frequency marketing and CRM.
  • The new Oxford Strategic Pricing Programme started in 2009, tackling the internal and external challenges of developing and implementing a retail pricing strategy
  • The Asia Pacific Retailing Seminar has run biannually since 2001, and in 2009 was held in Hong Kong.
  • The Oxford Retail Masters Programme, which attracts 50 aspiring retail leaders to a challenging 4-day strategic management programme in Oxford each March is hosted by OXIRM.

OXIRM has also been actively involved in fostering executive education programmes specifically designed for individual retail companies, including Kingfisher, Marks & Spencer, J Sainsbury, HMV Group and the Finnish S-Group (Finland’s largest retailer).
