Idea Idol is the flagship business ideas competition run by the Oxford Entrepreneurs student society. Idea Idol is a competition where any current Oxford student can present their business idea, based on an initial submission of a 100-word idea followed by a 1,000-word executive summary, if shortlisted. This will then be followed by an high profile Oxford Final where entrants pitch their idea to a panel of judges. Winners are put forward to an Inter-Varsity final.
Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) is an investor competition. Students apply to participate and those selected play the role of mock venture capital firms evaluating real companies. Real-world entrepreneurs who are currently seeking funding present their businesses to the student teams. The teams evaluate the available investment options and decide which company to invest in, how much to invest, and how to structure the deal. Finalists participate in the international final held at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Saïd Global Entrepreneur Challenge (SGEC) is a global competition for entrepreneurs. SGEC empowers young people to think critically about how they can make the world a better place, and then provides them with the opportunity and tools to bring about change. Six annual competitions have successfully been managed by the voluntary efforts of successive Saïd Business School MBA Classes. To date, SGEC has inspired over 200 teams of youth entrepreneurs from six continents and leveraged the skills of over 100 MBA students as mentors from similarly diverse backgrounds.
