Now in its 8th year, Oxford Entrepreneurs (OE) brings you Tata Idea Idol 2012 - OE’s flagship competition which identifies the brightest entrepreneurial ideas and puts the tycoons of tomorrow on the road to realising their dreams. The competition typically receives hundreds of applications which are judged and shortlisted to a final six. The finale is held in a ‘’Dragons Den’’ format with the six finalists pitching their innovative ideas to a number of high profile judges.
Tata Idea Idol 2011 was a phenomenal success. With a record number of applications received, finalists were whittled down to just 6 creative and imaginative individuals. The Nelson Mandela Lecture Theatre at the Saïd Business School was the venue for the Grand Final of TATA Idea Idol 2011, where the 6 finalists pitched their ideas in just 2 minutes to an excited and packed audience of over 300 attendees and a panel of high profile judges- including a Tata representative, Paloma Vivanco from the BBC’s hit show The Apprentice, the CEO of Octopus Ventures and the Oxfordshire Business Person of the Year. The atmosphere was tense as the 6 finalists were grilled by the panel of judges, who interrogated them on the viability and potential of their ideas.
The winner of the £10,000 prize money and additional support was Maxim Osipov with Flexibity. Flexibility creates smart wireless sensors which track the health of kids or elderly parents, checks the safety of the user’s house and forwards the information to the user’s mobile.
