Oxfordshire’s business networks represent one of the most advanced innovation support systems in Europe. Entrepreneurship and innovation at Oxford University is driven by an extensive set of internal and external networks or partnerships with industry and government.

The internal networks encompass the Saïd Business School’s Oxford Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Oxford Business Alumni, Isis Innovation, Oxford Entrepreneurs, the largest student entrepreneurship society in Europe with over 4,500members student and the regional science parks and business incubators.

External networks encompass government and industry. Government networks extend from the regional to national and European levels. The international networks extend as far afield as Silicon Valley and Asia, complementing the regional networks which include 2,000 high-tech companies from the biotech, medical, information technology, materials, nanotechnology, electronics, automotive and manufacturing sectors. A cluster of financial, legal and management professionals supports regional innovation.

These internal and external networks underpin entrepreneurship and innovation in Oxford, and the University’s track record of over 100 technology spin-out and start-up ventures worth £2 billion.
