Ahmed obtained an MSc in Management Research from the Saïd Business School in August 2008. He graduated with first class honours, and received the Dean's Prize for outstanding academic achievement and the Dan Gowler Prize for best dissertation. His MSc thesis, which was supervised by Professor Steve Rayner, was a case study on the development of biofuels in the strategic alliance network of an oil and gas company.
After leaving Oxford he joined the business development team at the power generation division of Engro Corporation, back in his home city of Karachi, Pakistan. He was hired as a Business Development Officer and his responsibilities included carrying out economic viability assessment of different power generation options available to Pakistan (such as biomass, wind, hydro, liquefied natural gas, and coal), writing position papers for the lobbying of energy policy of the Government of Pakistan and multilateral institutions (such as the World Bank), and collaborating with potential joint venture partners.
Ahmed left Engro in December 2010, and joined his family business. His organization, Uncia, is involved in the Pakistani real estate market, and garment manufacturing for export. He is currently the Finance and Marketing Director of the garment manufacturing division.
