Business Advisory Council

The Business Advisory Council of the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford was established to create a network of senior business people with the purpose of providing independent advice and guidance to the School as it continues to grow and develop.  Its membership is drawn from the prominent figures in business.

The members of the Advisory Council individually and collectively leverage their own knowledge and expertise to inform, challenge and debate the School’s strategy and ensure its immediate relevance to business and government.  The meetings address issues that are of central importance to the direction and running of the School, for example its international profile, the enhancement of its relations with the corporate sector, and the impact of recent economic and financial developments on the role of business schools.

Members of the Council participate in the School in a number of other ways depending on their particular interests and as their time permits. A primary objective of the Council is to help the School develop relationships with significant private and public organizations, spanning all areas of the School’s activities – student recruitment, internships, projects, research and executive education.  Members of the Council perform an important role in helping the School cultivate and develop these relations and act as external ambassadors among their peer groups in business, government and society.

The BAC meets three times a year, twice in London and once, in the summer, in Oxford.  It is chaired by Dame Helen Alexander, Deputy President of CBI.
