The Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford is currently constructing an extension to the School building designed by the leading architectural practice Dixon Jones, which created the School's critically acclaimed original building.
The new building will provide the additional facilities the School requires for an expansion of its teaching and executive education activities and will complement the existing executive education resources at Egrove Park (formerly belonging to Templeton College) on the outskirts of Oxford.
The construction hours are between 7.30am and 5.30pm Monday – Friday, between 7.30am and 1.00pm on Saturdays, with no construction work currently expected on Sundays or Bank Holidays. If essential work is required outside these hours, we will advise residents via these pages. Regular updates will also be posted here in a quarterly e:newsletter, which will highlight the project’s milestone dates. The expected completion date is summer 2012.
The contractor selected to construct the new building is Chalegrove Properties Ltd (CPL). CPL is registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme and has a wealth of experience constructing high quality buildings in city locations, where site logistics play an extremely important role. CPL will be working very closely with the School and with our neighbours to minimise any disruption during the construction phase. CPL will be responsible for the site once work commences in August, and can be contacted directly with any questions, issues or concerns relating directly to the construction works.

Information for local residents
We are grateful to those residents who have responded to our plans for the building over the past few months. A range of specific changes were made to our designs in response to feedback from the local community. For instance:
- The north façade has been set back
- The second floor has been stepped back
- We have developed plans for increased planting on the north side of the building
- The new building will not increase car parking at the School and the existing provision is retained in a new underground car park
- Additional cycle parking provision is being made within the building
- We are also intending to increase the number of public cycle racks on the west side of the building
- It is considered that the new building will improve safety and security on the existing footpath and cycleway with better lighting and CCTV coverage.
We hope you will welcome our proposals for the new building. If you have any comments or questions please contact:
